Getting Started

Please thoroughly read and be aware of these instructions before using safety helmets.

Safety helmets are used to protect the head in the hazardous work site or similar location provided for in the law (Labor Standard Law).

Safety helmets are to comply with the standards “Safety Helmets Standards” of Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.? Label () is applied with the products that have passed the type examination.

”Flying or Falling Object” written on the label () indicates that the safety helmets reduce or prevent any dangers arising from flying or falling objects from above.? “Protection for Falling” indicates that the safety helmets reduce or prevent any dangers arising from falling from on top of the cargo piled up in a warehouse, the vehicle or the area where the scaffoldings or the protective net are not available.? However, these safety helmets are not to prevent any dangers arising from a height altitude such as the structure or utility pole.? “Electrical” indicates that the safety helmets that prevent any danger from head electric shock under the condition of 7,000 V or less of the working voltage.

”Helmet Standards” of Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare defines minimum standards to ensure safety for the head, and there is a performance limitation with it.? Therefore, label () does not ensure absolute safety.? Please use the safety helmets with utmost care and follow these instructions in order to conduct safety work on a constant basis.

1. Meanings of Warnings and Cautions (important safety notifications)

Followings are the meanings of warnings and cautions indicated in this instruction.

Warning and Caution

2. Warnings and Cautions

Warnings (Failure to comply with these instructions could result in serious head injury or loss of life.)
  1. Do not use the safety helmets with no label().
  2. Check the label and use the appropriate safety helmet corresponding to the work.
  3. Do not use the safety helmet once it has been subject to shock even though there is no defect in appearance. (Since the performance has declined due to the shock, it is not capable of protecting the head sufficiently for another shock.)
  4. Electrical Safety Helmets for electrical shall be conducted self-inspection on voltage resistance performance periodically every six months. (Article 351 of Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Hygiene)
  5. Be sure to use chin strap properly. (Safety helmet could come off and cause serious head injury at the time of the accident.)
  6. Do not process and alternate safety helmets or remove their parts. (Safety helmets are designed to provide good performance in overall balance against the parts. Alternating or removing the parts means that the head is not secure.)
  7. Inspect the safety helmet periodically by means of “20 Checkpoints of Safety Helmet”. Replace it immediately if it is consistent with any of the checkpoints.
  8. Do not use safety helmets with long-term duration of use. Find out which material is used, and thermoplastic resin products such as PC, PE and ABS shall be replaced within 3 years even though there is no defect while thermoplastic resin FRP products shall be replaced within 5 years.
  9. Replace hammock within about 1 year. Deterioration or defect of the component parts needs replacement immediately. (Use the parts of same manufacturer and model for the replacement.)

Use of the safety helmet deteriorates its performance. Safety helmets are used under the harsh conditions, their performance degradation may be more progressive than their appearances. The safety helmet with performance degradation is not capable of delivering good performance from immediate danger in case of emergency.

Cautions (Failure to comply with these instructions could cause negative effect on the function and performance, and result in head injury.)
  1. Insufficient headband adjustment lead to wobbling and coming off easily while in use. Sufficient protective performance is not provided.
  2. Do not attach the manufacturers’ non-designated parts and accessories. (It could cause functional decline or performance loss.)
  3. When attaching the manufacturers’ designated parts and accessories, follow the instructions manual that comes with them.
  4. Replace the Interior fitting and chin strap when they become tainted. When assembling for the replacement, put them back the way they were.
  5. Do not lose any parts when removing them for the replacement. In the case where the parts are lost, do not alternate them with the other parts or do not use the safety helmet with the parts. (It could cause performance loss.)
  6. Do not work for a long period of time in the place where it is subjected to high temperature such as in front of the furnace, in the drying furnace, or by the projector. (The material may be metamorphosed, discolored and deformed resulting in the performance deterioration.)
  7. Do not leave in the place where the temperature is 50°C or more such as in the car in summer, by the heater or the place where it is exposed to direct rays of the sun. (The material may be metamorphosed, discolored and deformed resulting in the performance deterioration.)
  8. Do not paint with the manufacturers’ non-designated paint. (It may affect the material resulting in performance deterioration.)
  9. Do not sit on the safety helmet or carry it with something inside. (It could be deformed and interior fitting, impact absorbing liner, helmet may be damaged resulting in decline the performance deterioration.)
  10. Handle with care. Throwing the safety helmets on the floor causes the material damage and performance deterioration.
  11. Do not attach any manufacturers’ non-designated labels or stickers. (Chemicals and adhesives affect the quality and voltage resistance performance resulting in the performance deterioration of voltage resistance.)
  12. Wipe with the wet cloth with neutral detergent and wipe dry with the cloth which has been rinsed off with clean water.

The use of benzene or thinner causes breakage, cracks, melted surface, and seal detachment of the hat body, and also damages the material of the impact absorption liner.

4. How to Wear Safety Helmets

Headband adjustment

Adjust the headband to fit your head size Insufficient headband adjustment lead to wobbling and coming off easily while in use. Sufficient protective performance is not provided.

Follow the instruction manual of the manufacturer for the headband adjustment procedure
How to wear

Wear straight and deeply

Do not wear with tilting backward
Chin strap Put on the chin strap properly. Do not loosen or take off while in use. Serious injury may be caused when the accident due to the helmet came off (follow the instruction manual of the manufacturer or distributor properly for putting on and loosen up the chinstrap)
